Quotes:

Quotes from the shootings at Columbine High School:

"I looked out the window and there was a kid with a trench coat
and a shotgun and pipe bombs in the parking lot. And then he shot a
girl outside and then he came into the cafeteria and you could hear,
like, bombs and shutguns going off. And then he came into the
library and shot everybody around me. Then he put a gun to my
head and asked if we all wanted to die and that he was going to kill
us if we were of color, and if we had a hat, and if we played sports. I
just started screaming and crying and telling him not to shoot me
and so he just shot the girl in the head in front of me, and then he
shot the black kid because he was black. And he shot him in the
face.'' -- Unidentified girl.

"It was a little group but they were part of the school. They dressed
differently and they acted differently. They always dressed in black,
usually in trench coats. I never saw them threaten anybody or bully
anybody, but we avoided them becase they were different. Anyone
dressed in black you're scared of because it signifies gothic or death.
... I'm angry someone would do this to us. There are lives ruined,
families ruined, and our whole school year is ruined.'' -- student
Casey Brackley.

"It was around 11 a.m. or so. It was soon after that they started
shooting and when they went into the lunch room and started firing
rounds. There was a girl about 50 yards away from us laying against
the curb who had been shot in her leg. Another kid was lying face
down at the bottom of the steps and he had been shot in the back
point-blank. Then the one kid who shot the kid in the back went up a
hill and threw a bomb into the parking lot and that exploded. Then
they went inside and continued to shoot at people.

"We were in the parking lot next to the picnic area where people
eat outside. We were about 50 yards away. By some cars. We heard
a lot of popping sounds. It didn't even sound like gunfire. It was
happening so fast. Then we saw one girl fall against the curb and
then the guy in the trench coat came down the stairs and shot the
guy in the back I had seen. Just point-blank. He had a gun 2 feet
long. Maybe a sawed off. He was just casually walking. He wasn't in
any hurry.'' --- student Wade Frank.

"I was just coming back from lunch when all the shooting started.
Some of my friends were coming from the school, screaming and
crying. I started crying. I was terrified and I didn't know what to do
at first.'' -- student Jamie Roark.

"One of them opened his cape and had a shotgun. Finally, I started
figuring out these guys shot to kill, for no reason. ... They didn't care
what race you were. It didn't matter. They wanted to shoot to have
fun. They're sick people.'' -- student Nick Foss.

"A bunch of people stood up to look outside, then a loud bang
happened and everyone around the window just fell under the tables.
I saw a guy standing with a gun and he fired it torward the ground.
...

"I went under the table where I was eating and I could see outside.
I saw another guy in his trench coat throwing pipe bombs in the
parking lot.'' -- student Braden Pesusich.

As the father of six children, I want to know that when my wife or I drop our kids off at school they will be safe from predators, crime and violence.
Mike Fitzpatrick

"November 2000, Mission, British Columbia,
'If I try to get help it will get worse. They are always looking for a new person to beat up and they are the toughest girls. If I ratted they would get suspended and there would be no stopping them. I love you all so much.'
Dawn-Marie's young brother found her in her bedroom where she had hanged herself with a dog leash. Dawn-Marie was only 14 years old."
Greg Mitchell

"The School turned into total chaos, with kids crying and screaming." -Zoey (surviver of a school shooting)

" I want the world to look into the mind of a depressed and traumatized idividual. I'm obssesed with the Columbine massacre. I know almost every detail...I have wanted to die for years." Alvaro Castillo (school shooter and murdered his father)
